The original idea for collaborative projects began on Tumblr as Nakama, although I must admit that many of these collaborations have been rather one-sided. I would really like more opportunities to collaborate with people and organizations.
These are some of the projects I’ve worked on so far.

Celebrating Progress Africa
CP-Africa was started by @nmachijidenma to chronicle the continent’s progress and “become the destination of choice for all those who want to get inspired and informed about the continent globally.” I have contributed a few articles.

- Village Corps: Empowering Communities to Reach Sustainable Prosperity (CP-Africa)
- Africa’s Cybersecurity: an Internet W.M.D. (CP-Africa)
- UNFPA and Millennium Villages Join Forces to Improve Maternal Health in Africa (CP-Africa)
Second Nature, Inc
Second Nature‘s mission is to create a sustainable society by transforming higher education. I worked at SN for a year after graduating from college and I’ve been a fan of the organization since then. The people I worked with there are now like members of my extended family.

Kiva Microfunds
Kiva Microfunds connects people through lending to alleviate poverty. I have been using Kiva’s lending platform since November 2009. I think that I’ll eventually create a separate page that tracks my charitable lending portfolio.

Action Without Borders
Action Without Borders is the organization behind Idealist, the popular platform that intends to “close the gap between intention and action by connecting people, organizations, ideas, and resources.” I have been to two of their grad school fairs and continue to draw on them as a resource.

charity: water
charity: water is a passionate organization of people who want to “bring clean and safe drinking water to every person in the world.” I’ve been a fan of this organization and their founder for a while (since my first days blogging in 2010, actually).

Intelligent Mischief
I volunteered to work for Intelligent Mischief during the Fall 2014 semester. Intelligent Mischief (IM) is a hack lab for civic engagement that creates strategies for better communities through social hackathons. They were also one of Boston’s leading organizations in the #BlackLivesMatter social justice movement.

Future Boston Alliance
I actually learned about IM (see above) through my involvement with Future Boston Alliance, an organization founded by Greg Selkoe (founder of Karmaloop) to help the City of Boston, Massachusetts to harness its potential for progressive and inclusive growth into a 21st-century city. FutureBOS was largely absorbed into Epicenter Community, which seems to have shut down also.

Action Health Incorporated
I’ve been involved with Action Health Incorporated for a long time. I think it’s largely responsible for my enduring interest in the intersection of government, NGOs, and business. AHI has been promoting young people’s health and development since 1989 and I’m usually working on something to support their work.
